The standard-bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has announced that his government will establish a salt factory in Gomoa Nyanyano.

According to the former president, the establishment of the factory will boost the local economy and provide employment for young people in the area.

“The salt industry in Gomoa Nyanyano will be boosted. Once we have installed the salt factory, it will be the young people of this area who will get jobs, “he said.

The NDC leader spoke at a meeting with fishermen and fishmongers in Gomoa Nyanyano on the first day of his tour of the Central Region.

He regretted the current practice under the chairmanship of Nana Akufo-Addo, where nuclear plant officials have usurped the responsibilities of the landing beach committees established by the NDC and are distributing premixed fuel, outboard motors and other fishing supplies. , in a partisan way.

“It recently came to light that an NPP party executive had taken over and was selling outboard motors. But how can a partygoer sell outboards? He wondered.

Therefore, he promised that when the NDC returns to office, it will reinstate the landing beach committees under the leadership of the main fishermen and work without bias or consideration for party affiliation.

The NDC presidential candidate also reiterated a promise first made in 2016 to build a community day high school for Gomoa Nyanyano, adding that while he was unable to win the 2016 election to fulfill that commitment, he is confident of winning the 2020 election. and therefore it will comply. the promise.

He assured people that the cold storage project started by the NDC and abandoned by the Akufo-Addo government would continue.

Mr. Mahama also promised to build piers for them and complete the road leading to the community.
