Nigeria will receive the herbal medicine from the Republic of Madagascar ‘COVID Organics (COV)’, which according to the country’s leaders cures and prevents coronavirus.
The Nation reported that the shipment from Nigeria has been sent to Equatorial Guinea from where it will be airlifted to Abuja. It was deduced that African countries were zoned to facilitate transportation, which led to the burden of shipments from Nigeria to Equatorial Guinea.
The Presidential Task Force (TFP) at COVID-19 has been notified of Madagascar’s offer and arrangements are being made to bring the Nigerian assignment to Abuja.
While some health officials are lobbying for clinical trials of Covid Organics to be conducted before being used in the country, different medical and scientific organizations are reportedly pressuring the Federal Government to allow the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development ( NIPRD) and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) subject the drug to further analysis.
The nation source said;
“The shipments of the drug are distributed to different countries in Africa depending on the zonal grouping. We have been told that the Nigerian shipment is in Equatorial Guinea from where it will be airlifted to Abuja.
“When the herbal drink is brought to the country, we will know the next step. But some medical and scientific organizations are pushing for the drug to undergo clinical trials.
“Some countries like Tanzania, Congo-Brazzaville, Guinea-Bissau and Equatorial Guinea have subscribed to drugs. Furthermore, while South Africa offered to carry out a scientific analysis of the drug, Senegal said it will submit it to a clinical trial.
“I can assure you that the Federal Government will make the best decision on the drug in the general interest of Nigerians.
“Before you can administer any food or medicine in this country, there are certain protocols that must be followed. The government will not circumvent these protocols. We want a solution; we want the best for Nigerians. ”
Recall that on April 28, the president of the PTF at COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, said that the nation was ready to try Madagascar’s herbal drink.
Mustapha said at the time;
“I want to assure you that, whatever is happening in the world, we take it into account and maintain an account.
“I was reading the experiences in Madagascar, why everyone drinks some solutions that have been prepared. This morning I was sharing with my wife, and I told her that I would probably request that the President allow us to import an airplane load for a test.
“We are all sailing for an unknown cause. No one has been on this path. Therefore, every attempt to find a solution that provides relief to our people, be assured that this working group is very responsible and that we would do everything possible to ensure that we get what will benefit our people, which will help them. in the processes we carry out. we meet today. “
This comes after the World Health Organization (WHO) held that the drug’s effectiveness was unproven.
