Karim Benzema knows that the door will always be open for him at Lyon if he ever wishes to return, and the French club would love to make his dream come true.
This comes after Benzema’s former agent Karim Djaziri suggested he would like to play in his old club’s new stadium.
“He’s torn between leaving the best club in the world and coming back to Lyon, it’s a matter of time,” Djaziri said.
“His dream is to go back to Lyon and do great things. Wearing the captain’s armband with the youngsters could be magical.”
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas responded to these comments, stating that contact was already made with the 33-year-old player last summer.
“I know there was contact with Benzema last season, via [sporting director] Juninho, “Classes told RMC Sport.
“If there is a possibility of Benzema returning to Lyon, of course we will find the solution.
“He has never been to the new stadium and for our fans that would be a dream. It all depends on the results of Real Madrid.”
Benzema came to Los Blancos from Lyon in the summer of 2009 for 35 million euros, becoming one of the most successful signings of Florentino Pérez in 12 successful years.
The forward, whose contract expires in 2022, played down rumors of an imminent return to the club where he began his professional career when questioned about him last April.
“I’m in the best team in the world, maybe one day [I would return to Lyon] finish my career, but not now, “said Benzema.
