Luis Suárez scored a double for Atlético de Madrid in a 3-1 victory over Elche on Saturday, which puts the Uruguayan at the top of the LaLiga Santander scoring table.
Thomas Lemar passed Marcos Llorente, who then passed Kieran Trippier and the Englishman yielded to Luis Suárez who directed the ball home with the smallest of touches to break the firm resistance of an Elche who had a strong first half.
The visiting team proved to be a well organized team and it took a quality game from the aforementioned players to break them.
Suárez was a player in need of a goal, he did not look the same since he returned from having COVID-19 and he went without a goal since November 17, but, like the buses, two arrived at the same time for the Uruguayan forward.
He got his double in the second half, doing well at the end of an excellent center from Yannick Carrasco and, in doing so, he became Atlético’s top scorer in LaLiga Santander and atop the Pichichi table.
Suárez has already scored seven league goals this season, at the level of Iago Aspas and Mikel Oyarzabal of Celta Vigo and Real Sociedad respectively.
