Lost major deals for openly supporting NDC in 2016 – Dumelo laments

Actor John Dumelo says openly declaring his support for the Democratic National Congress (NDC) in 2016 came with the loss of important endorsement deals.

According to him, months after the New Patriotic Party (NPP) took power from the NDC, the companies he had been working with asked to cancel their associations.

His comment comes after former President John Dramani Mahama’s statement that celebrities become marginalized when they declare their support for a party.

In an interview on an Accra-based radio station, he stated that because of what he experienced, he goes out of his way to discourage celebrity endorsement of his party, the NDC, ahead of the 2020 elections.

However, he claimed that some of his colleagues still support him in his campaign to become a member of Parliament for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constitution, albeit in secret.

John Dumelo indicated that there are other colleagues in the industry who have also lost contracts due to a change in power. Therefore, he warned celebrities against open support for the holidays, as it could have negative repercussions on their careers.
