The wolves have prevented their players from buying again with a new variant of the coronavirus that is spreading across the country.
The Premier League club told its players to protect themselves by avoiding trips to the supermarket during the first national shutdown in March.
Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo, who wants the Premier League to introduce Covid-19 tests twice a week for players and staff with the virus on the rise in England, says the club has responded by organizing shopping trips to all his team.
“We have staff to go shopping and the supermarkets for them,” Nuno said before Sunday’s home game with Tottenham. Sky sports.
“We have to avoid any kind of risk because we have a small squad and we have problems with some players out.
“We can’t afford to lose any player, we tell them every day ‘don’t relax and try to be more careful.’
“Our kitchen staff prepares a large box of the basic things we need.
“During the height of the pandemic, everyone suffered from it. When the situation improved, we told the players ‘they are free to go and do their own shopping’.
“But now that the levels are rising so high, and we have this new mutation that everyone is so concerned about, we are starting to put this together again. It’s about protecting ourselves.
“We are privileged as soccer professionals, so many people take care of us. It is impossible that [the rest of] society, everyone has to take care of themselves. “
When asked if the Lobos had hired additional staff to deal with the situation, Nuno replied, “No. As long as there is good will, there are no short numbers.
“The kitchen staff, security, everyone helps. We have to stick together, as a society, as a club, everyone has to help each other.”
Players and staff of Premier League clubs have been evaluated weekly since the start of the 2020-21 season in September.
But club testing in Level 4 areas will return next month to the twice weekly level used during the ‘Reset Project’ in the summer.
Wolverhampton is currently at Level 3 and Nuno says he wants to see an increase in testing across the Premier League.
He said: “It may be necessary. The infection rate levels are increasing a lot.
“Unfortunately, yes, to go back to two tests a week. Just to avoid a potential situation where players who make it to the game can’t play.”
But Nuno is not worried about Tottenham, which is on London’s level 4, where people are told to stay home and not travel out of the area, visiting Molineux.
“Absolutely no problem, I’m totally sure about that situation,” he said.
“We know how strict we are with our protocols and we are sure that all clubs follow the same protocols.”
