Livingston says it is “just incredible” that the clubs are being relegated and that others have denied the opportunity to be promoted by the Scottish league call.
The Premier League club confirmed that they voted in favor of an independent investigation into the circumstances behind the vote to end the season.
Lower league campaigns have already been declared, and the top flight is expected to do the same shortly.
“The impact could hinder teams for many years,” said Livingston.
UEFA has asked associations to declare their campaigns or submit resumption plans by May 25.
However, Motherwell has said “now there are no credible voices” arguing that the Premier’s featured games can be completed.
If the SPFL board chose to call up the league, Celtic would be crowned and Hearts would be relegated.
However, Livingston says an investigation into the process of deciding that it is “paramount to offer a level of transparency” and would be the “first hurdle” in bringing clubs together amid “trust issues” in recent weeks.
“When it is over, and clearly, this would allow us all to continue the task at hand that is saving our football clubs with collective action,” they said.
The West Lothian club, which can finish fifth in the Premier League, is also “disappointed” that the league’s rebuilding talks failed.
They say they supported the SPFL’s resolution to declare the season on the understanding that reconfiguring the league was a “different possibility.”
However, they said that the “large amount of time and energy” invested in the search for plans “did not receive the respect it deserved” and that “it was dealt with too quickly.”
“We had a collective opportunity to change the Scottish football landscape, while embracing the change and bringing a competitive advantage,” they said.
Instead, we have been unable to understand the big picture and repair the collapse of confidence that has been allowed to manifest for weeks, if not longer. “
