Arsene Wenger has insisted that Liverpool “is a champion in everyone’s head,” regardless of whether they officially receive the Premier League title this season.

Jurgen Klopp’s team is 25 points away from their closest challengers, Manchester City, but there has been much debate about how the season should be decided after the coronavirus pandemic halted the division.

The clubs are discussing the possibility of completing the season behind closed doors and such a scenario would surely allow Liverpool to earn the necessary points to be named league champions for the first time in 30 years.

Former Arsenal manager Wenger believes Liverpool will be seen as champion, regardless of what is decided.

As reported by talkSPORT, Wenger said: ‘Jurgen has done extremely well because that club has waited 30 years for this title.

‘And when you think they have such a huge difference [points gap] For the second team, Manchester City, too: 25 points, it is absolutely massive.

“No matter what England decides, Liverpool is champion in everyone’s head, I think.”

In France, Paris Saint-Germain was crowned Ligue 1 champion when the season ended early. They were 12 points ahead of second place Marseille.

It has been suggested in some quarters that the Premier League should be declared void, while others have stated that it should be decided on points per game.
