Liverpool fans have responded to the news that Pep Guardiola has signed a new contract at Manchester City.
The club confirmed on Thursday a new contract for the Spaniard that will take him until 2023 and ends speculation that he could leave the club in May.
On his new contract, Guardiola told ManCity.com: “Since coming to Manchester City they have made me feel very welcome at the Club and in the city itself – from the players, the staff, the fans, the Manchester people and the president and owner.
“Since then we have achieved a lot together, we scored goals, we won games and trophies, and we are all very proud of that success.
“Having that kind of support is the best thing any manager can have.
“I have everything I could wish for to do my job well and I am humbled by the confidence that the owner, the president, Ferran and Txiki have shown in me to continue for two more years after this season.
“The challenge for us is to keep improving and evolving and I am very excited to help Manchester City achieve that.”
The friendly ‘rivalry’ between Jurgen Klopp and Guardiola has become a staple in recent years with the two best teams in the Premier League churning out classic encounters as they battle for the league title.
This is how Liverpool fans have responded to the news.
Guardiola’s new contract will take him through 2023, which is still a year before Klopp’s current deal, which expires in 2024.
