Liverpool are not the only ones upset, frustrated and angry, but Jurgen Klopp has faced the greatest scrutiny after speaking out about concerns about Premier League television programming.
Both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and José Mourinho have been critical of the football calendar, but it is Klopp who has been the most vocal, imploring reporters to ask him about it on occasion, such has been his desperation to have the issue raised.
Klopp’s discussion of the match schedule with Sky Sports’ Geoff Shreeves after Liverpool beat Leicester City was not broadcast in the UK, but rather spread across the internet as Klopp pulled multiple points off his chest.
Then his heated conversation with BT Sport’s Des Kelly a week later sparked further discussion after Liverpool were belatedly forced to draw Brighton at Amex Stadium, as the pair discussed the case from their perspective, or that of their employer. .
Bottom line: In a season where players have had almost no preseason, asking them to play once every few days, as well as adding unnecessary international friendlies, all while playing a season that is a few weeks shorter than usual, you don’t know. may consider. good for the well-being of the player.
One of Klopp’s main complaints was that there is little discussion between the parties as to when the best starting times are for each club, and those in European competition do not take into account their extra trips on weekdays.
But there is an easy solution that should be able to be found, as discussed in a recent Allez Les Rouges podcast.
Peter Hooton said: “Klopp was questioning who makes these television schedules and as fans, we have always been questioning them.
“But he got it right. It wasn’t a spiel, it was an opinion on what the announcers are doing with the game.
“Liverpool are playing Ajax on Tuesday so they couldn’t play on Sunday but could [have played Brighton] Saturday night, which would make things better.
“It was Everton vs Leeds at 5.30pm and West Brom vs Sheffield United at 8pm on Saturday, so either of those games could have been traded to suit Liverpool.
“It would be more or less another half day, but [the TV companies] they are so inflexible. “
With Pay Per View plans now scrapped, each Premier League game will be broadcast on UK television at a different time, with no two games occupying the same space.
That means there are now more spaces than ever to include teams, which means fewer excuses than ever to find the right one for teams.

Yes, BT Sport would say they wanted to showcase the Premier League champions in their 12.30pm slot, but there’s no reason their slot couldn’t have moved later in the day.
Even the 3pm slot, which was occupied by Manchester City vs Burnley, would have been an improvement, and while BT will argue that they agreed in the TV deal that their slot was at 12:30 pm, as Klopp himself pointed out: that it was long before Covid.
Moving Liverpool to a later time slot may not have been satisfactory for foreign TV companies, for some of which 12.30pm (UK time) equates to prime time, but there are other weeks Liverpool could have shown so.
Next weekend, for example, Liverpool will not play until 7.15pm on Sunday, despite playing their Champions League clash with Ajax on Tuesday.

Every hour the start time is delayed from 12.30pm. M. After playing on a Wednesday he makes a difference, as Trent Alexander-Arnold described earlier this week.
If Liverpool had started later, perhaps now they would not be counting the cost of another injury, this time from midfielder James Milner.
This weekend it was Liverpool that faltered, but others will soon find the same problem, with the overall quality of the Premier League at risk in the event of further injuries, as is likely during the ever-packed festive period, in the whole division.
Klopp, Mourinho, Solskjaer and others haven’t been asking for their sides to have the weekend off, just a later start time.
And with PPV out of the question and all the games now live in the UK, there’s no reason why that can’t be done.
