Liverpool afternoon headlines when Fernando Torres explains why Chelsea ‘cold’ left him missed

Good evening Liverpool fans. Here are the headlines for Tuesday night, September 15.

Torres missed Liverpool’s warmth after signing for Chelsea

Former Liverpool striker Fernando Torres has spoken about the differences of playing for the Reds and for Premier League rivals Chelsea.

The World Cup winner was speaking to talkSPORT as he continues on a promotional tour for his new Netflix documentary due out this week, with Liverpool as the main topic of discussion.

Torres joined the Reds in 2007 from Atlético Madrid, but left for Chelsea in 2011 under less than ideal circumstances despite the Reds receiving a £ 50 million fee.

Torres’ decision to move on was motivated by a desire to get the silverware, and he did so with a 2012 Champions League win.

However, the Spaniard admits that he never found in Chelsea the same warmth that he had become used to at Liverpool.

“Liverpool was the peak of my career. I came to a new city and I didn’t speak English, ”Torres told talkSPORT.

“Everybody liked me from day one. I spent three and a half years at the club. Only happy times, he scored goals and won the European Championship with Spain.

“The relationship with fans and players was similar to that of Atlético de Madrid. The players and the fans are very close, and this is what I needed ”.

Torres continued: “However, Liverpool were a huge club. But inside it was like a little family. Of workers, gardeners and cooks. You could meet them every day.

“Chelsea was a huge structure, it was a little colder. It was still being built and everything was new.”

Chelsea star Werner drops important clue on Liverpool

Timo Werner has suggested he will go through the pain to face Liverpool this weekend.

The German international lasted the full 90 minutes during Chelsea’s 3-1 win against Brighton on Monday, but was seen with ice on his leg during a post-match interview.

The former RB Leipzig player was heavily tied to Liverpool this summer, and was expected to make it home to Anfield only to end up at Stamford Bridge.

The two sides meet over the weekend and it looks like Werner is desperate to play.

“It was (the leg injury) a penalty,” he admitted. “The goalkeeper’s knee hit me directly into the muscle and it was very strong.

“For the rest of the game it hurt a lot and I couldn’t do some movements because the muscle got really hard, but in the end, I’m happy I won.”

Minamino sends a message when Shaqiri returns

Takumi Minamino gave Jurgen Klopp a timely reminder of his scoring prowess by scoring in a 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town’s B-team at Anfield on Sunday.

The Japanese international, an unused substitute against Leeds, scored on the edge of halftime to continue his good form since returning for the preseason.

Xherdan Shaqiri also appeared in the game as he continued to recover from injury.

The Swiss international has managed just seven minutes with the first team since January 11 and missed all three pre-season friendlies, the Community Shield and the win against Leeds on Saturday night.
