Live broadcast: Akufo-Addo and Mahama will sign a peace pact before the December 7 elections

The National Peace Council is ready to bring together the leaders of the two main political parties in the country to agree on a pact that guarantees peace, days before election day.

Chairman of the Board, Dr. Ernest Adu Gyamfi said JoyNews Thursday that the pact, among other things, will see President Akufo-Addo and the presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Mahama agree to seek redress through the judicial process in the event of any electoral dispute.

They are also expected to work to eradicate vigilantism in the program called ‘The Third High-Level Meeting on the 2020 Presidential Elections Peace Pact’.

The event currently taking place at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra will be moderated by the Executive Director of the Ark Foundation and Member of the Civic Forum Initiative, Dr. Angela Dwamena-Aboagye.

Also present at the ceremony were the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, President of the National House of Chiefs, Ogyeahohuo Yaw Gyebi II, Executive Director, of the Institute of Democratic Governance (IDEG) Dr. Emmanuel Akwetey, among others.
