Lionel Messi wins the historic Ballon d’Or with Xavi

As expected, Lionel Messi has been included in the Dream team announced by France Football. The Argentine forward joins archrival Cristiano Ronaldo and Brazilian legend Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima to form the forwards of the Dream Team. Along with Messi, his former partner and very good friend, Xavi Hernández was also included in the team.

Lionel Messi is possibly the best player on the right. Many argue that he is the best player the sport has ever honored. Although he doesn’t have many international trophies or achievements, he has changed the sport forever. The number 10 will undoubtedly go down to be one of the most legendary players and his club’s achievements and individual awards are an alibi for that claim.

With six Ballon d’Ors, the 33-year-old is currently leading the race, although his fierce rival, Ronaldo, is not far behind. The rivalry between Ronaldo and Messi has created many historic matches and moments and was truly La Liga’s main attraction for many years. Although El Clásico is a very old and traditional rivalry, the Portuguese and the Argentine made the occasion 10 times bigger.

From his early days at Newell’s Old Boys, he was destined for greatness. His passage to Barcelona assured him his legendary status and he can be compared with greats like Maradona and Pelé. In fact, Messi is on track to break Pele’s record for the most goals for a single club. The Argentine is one goal away from equaling Pele’s record and two away from breaking it.

Not everything has been sunshine and roses for the player, as he has gone through a rather difficult time at his current club. Messi wants an exit for the performance and management of the club, however, on the other hand, he loves the club and does not want to see it suffer.
