Lionel Messi’s transfer saga has taken another surprising turn after reports suggested the Argentine could end up staying in Barcelona for another two years before making a move to settle in the United States.
Messi, whose contract ends this summer, came close to ending his iconic 19-year stint with the Catalan giants in the most recent transfer window after he told the club via burofax that he wanted to leave.
The 33-year-old ended up staying, but remains linked to his departure at the Camp Nou, and he is not short of options on where he could go next.

Reports in Spain claim Messi will then move to America and settle in Miami, where he already has a £ 7.25 million flat in the luxurious Porsche Design Tower.
A meeting with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City has been proposed, while Paris Saint-Germain will seek to reunite him with Neymar should his contract expire.
However, according to Cadena SER, Messi is ready to scrap plans for an outing and instead extend his stay with Barca until 2023 before picking up clubs and moving to Miami to retire there.
The report claims that Messi wants his children to go to high school in America before going to college.
He reportedly bought a flat in the building, which has an elevator for his car, 18 months ago.
The 60-story Porsche Tower also features ocean views and is a stone’s throw from Inter Miami
Cadena Ser also claims that the Argentine already has a home in Florida, where he bought a £ 7.25 million flat in the luxurious Porsche Design Tower a year and a half ago.
The high-rise building, which features oceanfront living and a separate elevator for your car, opened in 2014 and is only a 25-minute drive from Inter Miami Stadium.
The report would back up claims that Messi is ready to see his career with David Beckham’s Inter Miami, and the Argentine recently admitted that a move to the United States is something he is interested in.

In a recent interview, Messi revealed that he would be interested in moving to the United States at some point in his career.
“I would like to play in the United States and experience life and the league there … but in the end I will return to Barcelona in some way.
“I’m not thinking too much in the short term and I just want to see how the season ends.”
