Lionel Messi made no secret of his disappointment as Barcelona drew 1-1 at Eibar on Tuesday night.
The Argentine was not available for the game and was left out of the squad for the day, but that did not prevent him from watching the game from the stands.
Barça were poor against La Liga fighters, finding themselves 1-0 down after Kike grabbed Ronald Araujo for the ball before passing Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.
They were level ten minutes later through Ousmane Dembele, but couldn’t find a winner.
Messi’s displeasure was evident, as he was filmed leaving the stands while shaking his head.
The six-time Ballon d’Or winner is expected to leave Barça at the end of the season, when he will be out of contract.
He is free to speak with foreign clubs as of January 1 and is expected to receive an offer from Manchester City following their failed attempt to sign him in the previous window.
Messi tried to leave the club just a few months ago when he presented a burofax stating that he wanted to exercise the exit clause in his contract, but was blocked after Barcelona and La Liga intervened and warned him of a legal battle.
But Messi confirmed this week that he would only decide his future at the end of the season, and he would continue to bet on Barça until then.
He said: “Messi said:“ Nothing will be clear as water before the end of the year. I’ll wait until the season is over.
“What matters now is thinking about the team, finishing the year well and not getting distracted by other things.
“I don’t know what will happen. I am focused on what we have here and fighting for what we can.
“I’m not thinking about how the year will end.
“Starting today, it wouldn’t be wise for me to say what I’m going to do because I don’t know.”
