Lionel Messi was one of three first-team players who did not train in Barcelona on Thursday before Saturday’s long-awaited trip to Atlético de Madrid in La Liga.
Blaugrana coach Ronald Koeman allowed Messi to sit in the training session with his teammates Frenkie de Jong and Miralem Pjanic, according to Diario AS.
This is reportedly due to the fact that the Argentine star did not return from international duty until Wednesday night and it was decided that it would be beneficial for him not to attend today’s session.
Messi’s return through the airport in the Catalan capital on Wednesday made headlines when he proclaimed to the press: “I’m tired of always being the problem of everything at the club.”

The Barcelona news had been dominated by Messi’s demands to leave the club in the final season and his future at the club beyond this current campaign is unclear.
However, he, along with Pjanic and De Jong, is expected to return to training on Friday and be in shape for the trip to Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday.
