Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia told the chiefs and people of Banda and Bongase in the Bono region on Thursday to vote patriotically on merits in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections on December 7.

He challenged people to compare the eight years of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration to the three and a half years of the government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo so that they can make an informed decision when they go to the polls.

Vice President Alhaji Dr. Bawumia made the call when he addressed a durbar organized by the chiefs and the people of Bongase in his honor as part of his two-day working visit to the Bono region.

The vice president said that the government is advancing in the processes of national reconstruction and an additional four years are required to further improve the livelihoods of citizens through more pragmatic, stable and consolidated socioeconomic achievements.

Vice President Alhaji Dr. Bawumia noted that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had nothing new to offer to transform the lives of Ghanaians and told people that the rehabilitation of the Bui-Menji road alone justified why they should vote for the PNP.

He said the government had employed more than a million Ghanaians in the public sector in three and a half years.

On top of that, the vice president said that 90,000 nurses and 90,000 teachers had also been employed, while life was now better for the 100,000 graduates participating in the Nation Builders Corps (NaBCo) program.

Vice President Alhaji Dr. Bawumia said the previous NDC government nearly collapsed the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), the National Ambulance Service, and other key sectors of the national economy, and said it would be economically disastrous if Ghanaians gave back the NDC to power politics.

Nana Hayaw Bosom II, head of Banda-Bongase called on the government to accelerate action and facilitate the payment of land compensation to people affected by the construction of the Bui dam.

He also called for the establishment of an Arab school for the Islamic community and a tertiary institution in the area.

Nana Bosom II praised the government for the ongoing reconstruction of the Bui-Menji highway and called for the Bongase Community Health Planning and Services Complex (CHPS) to be upgraded to hospital status.

Vice President Bawumia previously inspected the Bui solar power project, which upon completion would add 250 megawatts (MW) to the existing 400 MW to increase the dam’s total power output.
