A prominent member of the New Patriotic Party (PNP) in the Bono region has called on party supporters to stop the ‘blame game’ syndrome in the party’s dismal performance in parliamentary elections.

Instead, they must move forward together, identify and help address the various challenges that the party faced and led to its poor performance in the recently concluded general election.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Odumase in the Sunyani West district, Yaw Dabie-Appiah, a former PNP organizer, said that bad trends that could create disunity among the grassroots and impede their growth should be avoided.
He said that ‘the blame game and the unnecessary pointing of figures’ would harm the party and consequently affect its luck in 2024.

Mr Dabie-Appiah congratulated President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the elected Members of Parliament (MP), saying that they would need the full support of party supporters at all levels to fulfill their mandate as expected and carry the development of the nation to the next level.

He pleaded with the party leadership to speed up action and resolve understanding among supporters to avoid divisions that could affect the party in the long run.

Describing the PNP as a strong party under a ‘big elephant’, Dabie-Appiah said that the 2024 elections were not that far off, and that the performance of President Akufo-Addo and the deputies would determine the fate of the party and the next victory. .

“Now that the 2020 elections are over, we must remain calm and stand together solidly with our president and parliamentarians to do their best for mother Ghana. After all, development is what Ghanaians long for. Its lessons. and we must not aggravate the situation, “he said.

“We all bear a great responsibility to ensure that our great party thrives in unity and growing stronger so that we can properly prepare and make significant progress in the upcoming general elections in 2024.”

He called on party supporters pushing for various appointments and positions in the upcoming administration of President Akufo-Addo to be patient and to do so in a spirit of unity so as not to generate unnecessary tension and worsen the party’s situation as the leadership tries resolve emerging misunderstandings. .

“President Akufo-Addo needs enough time to select his ministers and make appointments. It will be politically immature for supporters to mount unnecessary pressure and give the president divided attention. We all did the best we could in the election and I think the president in his own wisdom he will appoint people who can do the job and do it better in the best interests of Ghana and the NPP.

“It is not bad for people to break through and get appointments, but it would also be premature for people to sleep around the president’s residence in their attempt to search for political portfolios,” added the former organizer.

He said the success of the next government of President Akufo-Addo and the victory of the PNP in the upcoming 2024 elections depended on the caliber of the people who would be appointed to serve under his supervision, and expressed the hope that the party’s supporters who would deserve to be considered in appointments.
