The Most Reverend Dr. Paul Kwabena Boafo, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana, has reminded all Ghanaians, especially Christians, to be vigilant about the coronavirus pandemic and to be on guard as they celebrate Christmas.
He said that when people went out to celebrate Christmas with family and friends, they should do well to observe all COVID-19 safety protocols, by wearing nose marks, disinfecting their hands, washing their hands regularly, and adhering to the protocols of social distancing. .
“The birth of Jesus is joyful and that is why we should not go out to get sick,” said Rev. Boafo.
In an interview with the GNA he wished Ghanaians a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, emphasizing that the reason for the season was to remember the birth of Jesus Christ and his coming into the world to save the human race from sin and destruction.
He said that the Lord had been good to all people as he watched us go through the challenges of 2020, especially during the COVID-19 period.
Therefore, he urged Christians to allow “Jesus Christ, who comes as our Lord and Savior, to be the center of all celebrations,” saying, “Let us welcome Jesus into our homes, in our government, and in our commerce. .
“Because he comes into our world as a light to shine and lead us to his light. For him, the Angels mentioned that he is the Prince of Peace. So, as we celebrate, let us invite the Prince of Peace into our hearts and into our nation ”, he emphasized.
Reverend Boafo explained that if there was something that was needed in the nation and the world, then it was peace, adding that what Ghanaians needed most was the voice of Jesus, which was peace, in what the nation was currently experiencing.
“The peace it brings is total solidity, integrity and what we would call shalom, the peace that comes within the individual,” he said.
He also asked all Ghanaians to learn to live together as brothers and sisters of different ethnic groups.
He used the occasion to advise merchants not to market the season by selling their wares at exorbitant prices, but to give themselves as Christ gave himself to the world even when they sell their wares.
He begged drivers to drive carefully, observing all driving rules, to ensure that people are safe.
