Leon Goretzka talks about Leroy Sane as new reports suggest the latter’s move to Bayern Munich could happen in the summer.
Athletic UK (subscription required) reported last week that Rekordmeister is confident that Sane is committed to completing this move. This report insisted that Sane’s family is eager to return to Germany, so City currently has little chance of convincing him to stay in Manchester.
Die Roten will seek to take advantage of Sane’s contractual status in City to sign him for a lower fee this year. The German club would have paid the odds last summer. Sane only has one year left on his contract, so Rekordmeister can end up hiring him for a bargain price.
Sane will be a great signing for the club, adding the stardust to the attack. Leon Goretzka was excited to play with him last season. Speaking to Welt am Sonntag (via Sportbuzzer), the German midfielder once again expressed his desire to play with the winger. Goretzka also insisted that Sane has the right mindset to win trophies.
“It is no secret that I like to play with Leroy. We get along very well. Our friendship did not come only from soccer, I have known Leroy since fifth grade. We have a different level of friendship than if we only met through soccer”
“In Leroy’s head, he wants above all to play football successfully and win titles.” What many forget is that he is no longer the boy he was when he was 19 years old. In some ways, he’s even ahead of me: He became a father and dared to go abroad. It has matured. “
Goretzka and Sane arrived at the FC Schalke youth academy. The German duo has also played for the national team together in different age groups. Goretzka played a bit more for Schalke before signing for Die Roten on a free transfer in 2018. Sane decided to take a big step in 2016 to play Pep Guardiola in Man City.
Acquiring Sane from the City will ensure that Die Roten has a strong group of players in wide positions. Sane’s productivity in the final third improved with Guardiola, so Die Roten will get a player who will contribute goals and assists. Serge Gnabry has stepped up this season, but Rekordmeister still needs one more winger with steady productivity in the final third.
Sane is likely the only winger to sign the German club this summer. The club’s hierarchy is reportedly eager to take the option to sign Ivan Perisic permanently from Inter Milan. Perisic joined the club on a one-year loan last summer.

Perisic and Sane will be good additions to the team, providing the right combination of style and experience. Goretzka lately has been linked well with Sane in the national team. The German midfielder now has to play the waiting game to play Sane at the club level, as movement seems to be inevitable.
