Ghana’s Premier League team Legon Cities is set to announce experienced Ghanaian coach Bashiru Hayford as the team’s head coach, footballmadeinghana.com can exclusively reveal.

The former AshGold and Black Queens player has reached an agreement with the Accra-based club over a three-year period.

The coach will be announced as the club’s head coach in the coming days, as the mega-rich club seeks to stabilize its technical department.

Following the removal of their Serbian coach, several names emerged as a possible replacement for the Royals, who have signed some of the best players this season.

Ghana Black Stars B coach Ibrahim Tanko was the favorite to get the job, but the club is believed to have settled on Bashiru Hayford.

FootballMadeInGhana.com understands that several names, including Yaw Preko, Malam Yahaya and Godwin Attram, also appeared, but Bashiru Hayford’s experience on the home front gave him an advantage.

Hayford’s experience stretches from his days as the head coach of Medeama SC to Asante Kotoko, where he guided them to win the Ghana Premier League in 2008.

He also won the league for AshGold in 2015 before receiving the Black Queen’s coaching position for the 2018 AWCON hosted in Ghana.

His most recent job was moving out of the country to manage the Somalia national team and he also served as Technical Director for the Somalia Football Association.
