2020 VGMA ‘Reggae / Dancehall Artiste of the Year’ Ras Kuuku has called for the legalization of marijuana cultivation in Ghana.

He said that if it is legalized, the high rate of youth unemployment in Ghana will drop dramatically.

He told Giovani Caleb on Showbiz 360 on TV3 on Friday, September 11, that the government also has the possibility of accumulating billions of CDs from the trade if it is legalized.

In March this year, Parliament passed the 2019 Narcotics Control Commission bill, which legalizes the cultivation of cannabis exclusively for health purposes.

The law empowers the Minister of the Interior, in consultation with other institutions, such as the Ministry of Health, to grant licenses for the production of cannabis that does not exceed 0.3% tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) for industrial and medicinal purposes.

But Ras Kuuku has called for all cultivation and use to be legalized.

“The government should legalize it and unemployment will go down, farmers will also have work to do. There’s money in it just like Canada and other places. “

“The benefits of smoking are only 1%. It will contribute billions to the government. “
