Lee Dixon believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his stars are ‘learning the Manchester United style’ as expectations rise for a Premier League title this season.

United moved within two points of league leaders Liverpool on Tuesday night thanks to a last-gasp win by Marcus Rashford to defeat a stoic Wolves team at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils weren’t in the brilliant form that saw them put Leeds United up six in their last home game, but they managed to clinch all three in a result that boosted confidence.

United were famous for their ability to steal victories by dying under Sir Alex Ferguson and Solskjaer, who played under the Old Trafford icon, hopes to reinstall that quality in his team.

And Dixon believes United is developing well toward that mold, before commenting on the state of the title race heading into the New Year.

“The confidence is there for all to see, the way they have won the game in the end,” the Arsenal legend told Amazon Prime.

“He is learning as a coach, learning the Manchester United way, his players are also learning from him. There are so many teams grouped together that if you are in the top seven or eight you are in the race.

“If Liverpool can maintain their momentum, I don’t see anyone catching them, but it could come out either way.”

Meanwhile, former United defender Phil Neville added that United have the strength in depth to sustain a title challenge. Liverpool have been affected by a number of injuries this season, but United have not suffered such misfortune.

“The team, if you look at the bench, it shows they have the depth to sustain a title challenge with the number of games they have,” he said.

‘I don’t see any available player who can come in and improve them [in January].
