The management of the LEDing Medical Laboratory, a Covid-19 testing center, has distanced itself from reports circulating in the media that a false Covid-19 report was issued to a traveler to go to Nigeria.

This comes after Portia Kissi Adu on Accra-based radio Starr FM revealed that she was given a false Covid-19 negative status report allegedly issued by LEDing Medical Laboratory to facilitate her travel to Nigeria.

Miss Kissi Adu indicated that she, a member of the airline staff, asked her to pay ₵ 700 in exchange for the false test certificate and allowed her to board the plane.

But a statement signed by the Laboratory’s Public Relations Officer, Dr. Maame Fua Antwi-Gyamfi, indicated that the fake Covid-19 test report was not issued by any member or staff of the LEDing Medical Laboratory or LEDing (GH). Limited.

Additionally, he noted that the trial facility has security features in its trial certificates to verify their authenticity at all times.

“LEDing Medical Laboratory is pleased to note that the published news report correctly described the test certificate as false, as it was in fact never issued by LEDing Medical Laboratory, which is clearly demonstrated by the presence of a serial number on the bogus test report that does not correspond to the authentic automated serial numbers (both in sequence and in numbers) generated and used by LEDing Medical Laboratory to serve the general public.

“Our test certificates also have a unique barcode that can be used to verify their authenticity and mandatory control by airline personnel, in accordance with agreed protocols and directives issued by Ghana Airports Company Limited and other parties. industry stakeholders, would have revealed that the test certificate provided to Ms. Kissi Adu was not authentic and did not originate from the LEDing Medical Laboratory, ”he said.

He then assured the public that his medical test reports are protected and difficult to duplicate “without detection.

In order to unmask the people behind the illegal activity, Dr. Antwi-Gyamfi revealed that legal proceedings have been initiated.

He said that the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service will be duly reported to uncover fraudsters who are exploiting the vulnerability of the public.

He added: “We hereby request the cooperation of Ms Portia Kissi Adu, Starr FM management and ASKY AIRLINE management with the Ghana Police Service in their duty to investigate and unravel the culprits behind the alleged incident.” .

The Public Relations Officer also advised the general public to be “good ambassadors in the fight to end this deadly COVID-19 pandemic by refusing to sponsor the activities of these rogue characters when offered to them, no matter how convenient or attractive their activities may seem at the moment. “
