Latif Blessing’s proposed transfer to Brazilian Vasco da Gama FC has escalated after the midfielder was left out of Los Angeles FC’s call-up for the decisive game against Portland Timbers on Sunday night.
Blessing has become a transfer target for the South American team after their search for the number one target, Antonio Valencia, continues to stall.
The Brazilian club is reported to have reached an advanced stage in negotiations with LAFC over the versatile midfielder.
The guys at Black and White have proposed an initial loan agreement with the option to buy permanently amid the uncertainty surrounding their long-term future.
The transfer talks appear to have unsettled the 23-year-old, so manager Bob Bradley fired him from the team for the game against Portland Timbers.
LAFC managed to snatch a point from the game from death, courtesy of 16-year-old forward Christian Torres, after Jeremy Ebobisse gave Timbers the lead 2 minutes after the break.
The Ghanaian is a linchpin for the Los Angeles giants, providing four assists in 17 games this season to cement his place as one of the most versatile players in MLS.
He can play in the midfield, as well as winger and winger.
Originally chosen in Sporting Kansas City’s 2017 Expansion Draft, Blessing has transformed from an outspoken player to a box-to-box midfielder with a tireless work pace.
He was previously named Ghana’s Premier League Player of the Year in 2016 while at Liberty Professionals.
