The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced a new date for the start of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.
The President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, announced last Sunday the relaxation of these restrictions, in her 17th Covid-19 speech to the nation.
Hours after the ease of a sports ban, the nation’s governing body for soccer announced that the top-tier season will begin in October.
But several stakeholders raised concerns about the start date, believing that clubs need enough time to properly prepare.
The Ghana Football Association appears to have taken the calls following Thursday’s announcement that the season has been rescheduled for November.
The November restart will mark the return of the top flight for the first time since March.
The 2019/20 Ghana Premier League campaign was cut short due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
However, Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold have been given the green light to represent the West African nation in next season’s CAF inter-club competitions.
The Porcupine Warriors will play in the CAF Champions League while the Miners will put their wits to the test in the Confederation Cup.
