Lampard rates Chelsea’s Premier League title chances

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard appears to have downplayed the chances of his team competing for the Premier League title this season ahead of the tie against Everton.

Chelsea will face Everton this weekend at Goodison Park having won four of their last five starts. The Blues are just two points behind the top spot heading into the clash. The Blues have been in good shape in recent weeks and have been rated as title challengers this season.

However, Lampard has moved into the distance talking about a title challenge as his team prepares for their trip to Goodison Park.

“I don’t know,” Lampard replied when asked if Chelsea will compete for the title this season.

“We are happy with where we are, but I know there is a long way to go. I don’t think rhetoric matters too much right now because words aren’t that important right now.”

“For us at Chelsea, it’s about how hard we keep working and we understand that consistency over a season is what wins titles, not games until mid-December.”

“It was really difficult to have clear expectations due to the variables at the beginning of the season: the Covid times, the preseason, the new signings, some injuries, and I didn’t know how that would turn out.”

“The start of the season was a bit bogus in terms of some of the performances and results, and right now we are getting very good performances and results.

“The reality is that we are probably somewhere in the middle. We need to make sure consistency is something we find in the future. I’m not sure where we are compared to expectations, but I always want more.”
