Asante Kotoko’s coach Maxwell Konadu expects restrictions on soccer activities to be lifted as Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo will give an update on measures taken against the spread of the coronavirus.
Soccer activities have been suspended in the West African country since March due to the virus outbreak.
The president in his series of updates on easing restrictions has not yet lifted the ban on soccer activities and contact sports in general.
Nana Akufo-Addo in a recent media interview said that her government is taking the right steps to ensure that soccer returns in the safest way possible that will protect fans and players.
Asante Kotoko’s coach Maxwell Konadu hopes the ban will be lifted so that clubs that cannot prepare before the new season.
“Should we expect good news tonight fellow GHANAIANS?” The coach asked in a post on his page.
The Porcupine Warriors have also confirmed their participation in next season’s CAF Champions League and the lifting of restrictions on football will see the club begin preparations.
The Ghana Football Association is still engaging the government on the possible restart of the Ghana Premier League in October amid the pandemic.
Any decision by the government to lift restrictions on football in today’s speech on measures taken against the spread of the virus will be welcomed by the football fraternity.
