Felix Annan receiving his award
Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Felix Annan has been named Footballer of the Year (Local) by the Ghana Sports Writers Association.
The Porcupine Warriors captain was honored for his outstanding display in 2019.
He managed to ignore competition from former AshantiGold player forward Shafiu Mumuni and former Hearts of Oak forward Joseph Esso.
Annan played a decisive role for his club in CAF inter-club competitions and received a call-up from Black Stars that year.
In 2019, Annan signed a three-year contract extension that keeps him at the club until 2023.
But recently he lost his number one spot at the club and the head coach preferred to start Ghana youth international Kwame Baah.
Annan could be tempted to force his way out with no sign of him returning between Kotoko’s sticks when the Ghana Premier League begins next month.
