Former Black Starlets head coach Samuel Paa Kwesi Fabin has warned Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold SC not to participate in the 2020/21 Caf interclub competition.

Kotoko and Ashgold received the go-ahead from the Ghana Football Association Executive Council following the cancellation of Ghana’s 2019-20 football season due to the coronavirus pandemic.

However, the Miners have confirmed that they will participate in the Caf Confederations Cup with Asante Kotoko yet to confirm their participation in the Caf Champions League.

The two clubs were selected by virtue of having won the GFA Standards Committee special competitions held previously.

Asante Kotoko won Level 1 of the North Carolina Special Competition and as a result booked a ticket to enter the CAF Champions League at the time, while Ashantigold also won the Level 2 competition and under that competed in the Confederation Cup.

Subsequently, the two clubs failed to make the necessary impact by failing to qualify for the group stage.

According to Paa Kwesi Fabin, the events of the recent past should be a sufficient deterrent for Ghanaian clubs and their African ambitions.

“In my honest opinion, no Ghanaian club should go to Africa to see the events of our games in recent years,” the Aduana Stars player told Kumasi. Pure FM.
