Ghana’s Premier League King Faisal has confirmed talks with veteran coach Oti Akenteng after disbanding the coaching team.
The Kumasi club disbanded the technical team headed by coach Slavisa Bozicic due to poor form in the league.
They were fired just 24 hours after King Faisal suffered his fourth loss of the season to Hearts of Oak at Techiman.
“It is true that we have dissolved our technical team. Our performance is very poor in the Ghana Premier League, although we are good coaches, “confirmed King Faisal CEO Anwar Sadat on Hot FM.
In the same interview, he revealed that Oti Akenteng is in pole position to take over as the club’s new head coach.
The 65-year-old has been out of work since leaving his position as head coach of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in April.
“We are in discussions with former GFA technical director Sir Francis Oti Akenteng as King Faisal’s head coach and Andy Sinason as assistant coach.”
Talks are understood to be well advanced and an official announcement regarding the appointment of the new head coach could be made before Wednesday.
