Kieran Tierney has detailed some of the main aspects Mikel Arteta has focused on at Arsenal.
The Spaniard took over the Emirates in December after more than three years as Pep Guardiola’s No. 2.
And the influence of Catalan is clear with Tierney discussing how much emphasis Arteta puts on the pressing side of the game.
Guardiola’s teams have always been known to shut down teams to get the ball back quickly, but the Arsenal boss is teaching his players how to deny the press.
The Scotsman has seen his chances limited since coming from Celtic due to injury, but admits he is still learning from Arteta.
“I’ve seen all of their video meetings, I’ve been together as a team,” Tierney said. “Before the games, after the games, and only his analysis is amazing.
“In Dubai for the winter holidays, I was doing individual work with him, and that’s when I realized that” this is brilliant. “
“Just for me, he knows what will happen in a game and how it will happen.” What to do, where you are going to be pressured and where your options should be.
“You need to know where the left center, center-middle, will be so you can play in sync. We all have a brain and I think it’s perfect.”
Arteta inherited an out-of-shape side of Arsenal meandering into the center of the table, but has overseen some impressive performances.
His first victory as a boss came on New Year’s Day when the Gunners beat Manchester United 2-0 in North London.
Arsenal have lost just one of their ten league games since Arteta arrived, but Olympiacos ousted him from the Europa League in February.
