While several major events have been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards cashed in on Saturday night.
The hour-long ceremony, initially scheduled for March 22, is “virtually happening”, conducted by videoconference to accommodate social estrangement, offering a possible plan for other award ceremonies while waiting for a COVID-19 vaccine.

He was nominated for roles in two films: “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw” and “Jumanji: The Next Level”.
“I want you to stay positive, to stay happy, to stay healthy, to go to bed feeling good tonight,” Johnson told viewers as he received his award, which had been mailed to him.
The musical power couple Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello were awarded the highest honors for the favorite musical collaboration of “Señorita”. Mendes also claimed victory for the favorite male artist.
“I love you guys and I miss you so much,” he said. “Not a day goes by that I don’t think how amazing my fans are.”
Cabello promised that the two of them would celebrate by making some organic slime and losing weight later.
Ellen DeGeneres stepped up to accept her favorite television presenter award for “Ellen’s Game of Games.”
“I always felt it was the perfect show for the kids,” he said. “I mean, where else can you see adults hit in the face with pudding?”
DeGeneres took the time to offer words of encouragement to children, and their parents, who are adjusting to these unprecedented times, including home classes.
“A real teacher has to be better than your mother in old pajamas,” he joked. “Although this is a difficult time, remember that it will not last forever.”
Voters cast online ballots in approximately 30 categories, including favorite music artists, family television shows, as well as movies and television and movie actors and actresses.
