International gospel musician and preacher Sonnie Badu is pleading with President Akufo-Addo to change the name of Kotoka International Airport (KIA) in honor of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings.
The former president who died on November 12, 2020 was buried on January 27, 2021.
Praising him on social media, Sonnie Badu wrote: “JJ do something before you die”, those were the songs !!! In fact, he did everything he needed for you … He will always be a role model for some of us. Thank you for everything you did for Ghana. His burial is so beautiful that it makes some of us want to work even harder and make the nation proud … Now dear President, @nakufoaddo How about if Kotoka International Airport is changed to JJ Rawlings International Airport ? Honestly, it would be nice to hear his name more often around the world at different airports “Flight 737 flying to Jerry John Rawlings International Airport from Accra, Ghana” … I know God will touch your heart to do this … just saying . “
