Former Barcelona star Kevin-Prince Boateng urged Catalan talisman Lionel Messi to move to Napoli in the summer to honor Diego Maradona’s number 10 jersey and play there for a year or two.
Messi’s future at Camp Nou remains uncertain considering that his current contract expires in June 2021, and the player has yet to agree on new terms with the club. His current situation means that he can go out for free next summer and start talking to foreign clubs in January 2021, that is, if he does not sign a new contract with the Catalan giants.

Boateng, who played alongside Messi in 2019, believes the Argentine could pay the utmost tribute to his late compatriot by signing for Maradona’s former club in the summer.
“Messi is going to end his contract at Barcelona, [but] How wonderful would it be if you just called Napoli and said ‘I’ll come’? They no longer give the number 10 shirt, [but] I would love to honor Maradona’s number 10 and I would love to come and play for one or two years at Napoli, without thinking about money or anything, only about my heart, “he told ESPN.
While the move to Napoli would be a final tribute, a transfer seems unlikely considering the Italian club does not have the finances to pay Messi’s massive salary.
