The Municipal Assembly of South Ketu has made donations in cash and various items for a total of ¢ 139,641.00 to 63 Persons with Disabilities (PWD) to facilitate their empowerment towards self-sufficiency.
The articles, which included; Industrial sewing machines, hair dryers, freezers, laptops, corn mills and supplies were to serve as an investment for the beneficiaries towards self-sufficiency and contribute significantly to society.
Tuesday’s donation, obtained by a three percent assigned as the Disability Fund of the Common Fund of the District Assemblies, was the third such support to people with disabilities in the municipality, which raised the number of beneficiaries to about 400 since the Fund’s disbursement in 2018 through Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDA).
Mr. Elliot Edem Agbenorwu, Municipal Executive Director of South Ketu (MCE) in a short ceremony to present the articles, asked the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the articles and the cash donations to benefit them and the society.
He said the government was committed to providing social intervention programs and projects to improve the lives of the needy and vulnerable in society and that there was a need to retain it in power to do even more for citizens, emphasizing, cheat . “

Mr. Christian Dzisam, Ketu South President of the Ghana Federation of Organizations for the Disabled, expressed his gratitude to the government for meeting requests from members providing their specific needs for educational support, economic empowerment and medical / mobility.
He instructed his PCD colleagues to provide assistance to avoid begging for a living.
Mr. Emmanuel Yewenyo, a Kudakope beneficiary, who was supported after a 10th attempt to apply to the Fund, was full of hopes that the sewing machine would provide a major boost to his craft.
Ms. Mawusi Adzaklo, another beneficiary, thanked the government and said that she would set up a supply store with the donation she received.
