Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong has offered an unreserved apology to the Chief Justice, Kwasi Anin-Yeboah, to the country’s judges and magistrates.
This follows an outburst of anger from the legislator last Wednesday during a television show.
The businessman speaking on the Seat Show on Net 2 TV had expressed his anger at a judge’s decision to grant a court order against him without allegedly performing due diligence.
Using non-printable words, the deputy said that he had a revenge against the country’s judges who abuse their power in the line of duty.
Among other things, Mr. Agyapong had also threatened to ‘face the judge’ who would render the verdict.
But in a statement addressed to the Chief Justice, the outspoken MP said: “Upon serious reflection, I have realized that, without prejudice to the substantive case, my expression on the court’s opinion was harsh.”
He also claimed that, prior to the publication of his letter to the Chief Justice, he also appeared on the same platform on September 7, 2020 to apologize for his outburst.
Mr. Kennedy Agyapong concluded his statement by reiterating his belief in the judicial system and therefore cannot denigrate its integrity.
“In fact, the court released me when I was charged with treason in 2012,” he said.
