A High Court in Accra has summoned the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, to appear before him to “prove the reason why he should not be severely punished for contempt of court”.

Agyapong, allegedly made a scandalized statement in the case in which Susan Bandoh and Christopher Akuetteh Kotei had sued him (Kennedy Agyapong), Ibrahim Jaja, Nana Yaw Duodu, alias Sledge, and the Inspector General of Police in a land matter.

Mr. Agyapong’s appearance before the Court comes after the High Court (Land Court 12) drew attention to a television (NET2 TV) and Radio (Oman Fm Station) program that allegedly aired on September 2 of this year.

In this program, it is said that the MP “scandalized and threatened” the Court.

A court order signed on September 9 by a Superior Court judge, Judge Amos Wuntah Wuni, read: “I hereby subpoena the aforementioned Kennedy Ohene Agyapong based on an order issued under my hand and seal to appear in Superior Court ( Land Court 12). On Monday September 2020 at 10:00 am to prove the cause for which he should not be severely punished for contempt, if the issues against him are proven to the satisfaction of the court. “
