Barcelona face Juventus tonight in a battle for the top spot of their Champions League group.
Both teams have already secured their place in the round of 16 of the competition and Barcelona are leading the way in the race for first place in their group.
The Blaugrana beat Juventus 2-0 in Turin in October, so if the Italians, currently three points behind the Catalans, want to finish above them, they will have to improve that score tonight at the Camp Nou.
However, there is much more at stake in the game. Both clubs, giants of European football, are performing below their usual standards at the national level and will want to establish a score with a positive result.
In addition to this, there is also the subject of a duel between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, the first since the latter left Real Madrid and La Liga in the summer of 2018.
Juventus, for its part, has issued a provocative tweet to remind their Catalan counterparts of a goal that eliminated them from the Champions League back in 2003, as Mundo Deportivo points out.
The couple played at the Camp Nou, as they will tonight, at the end of April. They drew 1-1 in the first leg in Italy, so they had everything to play for. Juventus went 1-0 through Pavel Nedved before Xavi tied.
Then, in extra time, substitute Zalayeta scored the winning goal, and it was this that the Juventus social media team took it upon themselves to remind Barcelona, writing “maybe you remember it too.” Barcelona will wait for them to laugh for the last time tonight.
