Fabio Paratici has hinted that he will attempt to seal Paul Pogba in a sensational return to Juventus, insisting that the Serie A giants ‘love’ the Frenchman, but he knows any deal would be very difficult for financial reasons.
Pogba’s outspoken agent, Mino Raiola, dropped a huge bombshell on the eve of Manchester United’s biggest game of the season against RB Leipzig by announcing that the midfielder’s time at Old Trafford was up.
Pogba has not lived up to expectations since returning to United for £ 89 million in 2016, and has received much criticism for his inconsistent performances in midfield.
He has been continuously linked to a move to Real Madrid or a return to Juventus, and Raiola even spoke of a move to Serie A stating that he “can go back to Turin.”
And Juve’s sporting director has weighed in on the matter, insisting that the Italian giants have great admiration for the French World Cup winner but know that a transfer will come at a high price.
Paratici told Sport Mediaset: ‘Is Pogba coming back to Juve? We love Paul, he is an amazing player, but now he plays for Manchester United.
‘He won’t be a free agent, you have to pay if you want to sign Pogba.
“We know very well the value of Paul Pogba. We also know its price, so we’ll see what happens. ‘
Although Pogba has scored twice in United’s last two games, it seems his time at Old Trafford is more than four years after making his then Juventus world record.
“I can say that it’s over for Paul Pogba at Manchester United,” Raiola told the Italian newspaper Tuttosport.
‘He has to change teams, he has to change air. He has a contract that expires in a year and a half, in the summer of 2022, but I think the best solution for the parties is to sell in the next market.
“Otherwise, the club, with which relations are excellent, knows well that it would run the risk of losing him in a free signing, since at the moment it is not the intention of the player to extend the contract.
Raiola added: ‘There is no point in turning it around. It is better to speak clearly, look ahead, and not waste time searching for culprits. Paul at Manchester United is unhappy, he can no longer express himself as he would like and as expected of him.
“If someone doesn’t understand it, they understand very little about football. In any case, blame me if Paul leaves next summer.
Pogba made a name for himself in Turin during his four years at Juventus between 2012 and 2016.
While playing for the Serie A giants, Pogba scored 34 goals and produced 40 assists in 178 appearances, winning four Serie A titles and two Coppa Italia.
