Barcelona broke their Turin hoodo when they managed a 2-0 Champions League victory over Juventus at Allianz Stadium thanks to Ousmane Dembele and Lionel Messi.
Before the 14th meeting between the two teams, Barcelona had never won in Turin, registering three draws and three defeats.
A deflected left-footed shot by Demeble at Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, although the Bianconeri had three goals disallowed for offside, before Merih Demiral received his marching orders at the end. Messi then stepped forward and scored a penalty in the 90th minute to secure the three points.
As a result, Juventus are now three points behind Barcelona in the Group G standings, with Dynamo Kiev and Ferencvaros one point each.
Ronald Koeman’s men started well and almost immediately hit the post through Antoine Griezmann, with Miralem Pjanic also testing Szczesny.
Then Dembélé intervened on the right side, with his stronger left foot, and fired an effort towards the goal, which deflected Federico Chiesa, passed over Szczesny and landed in the Juventus net.
Juventus had the ball twice in the back of the net, first Álvaro Morata surpassed Neto but was ruled out for offside. Then, shortly after half an hour, the same thing happened.
It could have been two when Lionel Messi led a Barcelona counterattack and played in Dembélé which was denied by the interrupted Szczesny, who had to make a double stop with Griezmann in the follow-up.
At the start of the second half, Juventus could barely receive the ball from Barcelona, as the Catalans had La Vieja in their own half, but the Bianconeri believed they were level.
A Chiesa cross was topped off by Frenkie De Jong, but only up to Juan Cuadrado, whose acrobatic effort fell into Morata’s path and finished off point-blank, but was once again ruled offside.
Griezmann drilled a ball at a barely deflected angle, and as the match drew to a close, things got worse for Juventus as Demiral received a second yellow card and was subsequently sent off.
The match ended late when Ansu Fati was brought down by Chiesa and Messi went ahead to double the Blaugrana lead.
