Jurgen Klopp rejects Roberto Firmino’s claims after Diogo Jota scored the Liverpool hat-trick

Jurgen Klopp disagrees with the idea that Roberto Firmino could be a secondary player now with Diogo Jota taking the reins as Liverpool’s main forward.

The Brazilian was eliminated before the Champions League clash with Atalanta after a good start to the season from Jota.

And it is possible that Firmino wonders that his position is threatened after another sublime performance of the new signing.

Now that’s seven goals in 10 games for the former Wolves star and many believe he could become a regular starter.

One of them includes former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock, who said: “Jota is hot right now.

“It is very, very difficult to leave him out against Manchester City.

“It seems inevitable that they are his three forwards, but you never know with Jurgen Klopp.”

But the Reds coach insisted that Firmino still has a very important role in his team.

“For us it is important that we have more than 11,” he said.

“Tonight Diogo played a super, super game, but that doesn’t say anything about Bobby, and it has nothing to do with me causing headaches.

“I’m more than happy the boys played like they did tonight.”

Firmino has largely been Klopp’s man of reference at the top, weaving the game between him, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

It has been a great success, winning the Premier League and the Champions League in the last two seasons.

And Klopp clung to the former Hoffenheim star even more, insisting that Liverpool would not be where they are now without his services.

“Good performances never give me a headache,” he said.

“But the world is sometimes in a really bad place, when at this moment someone is shining, we immediately talk about another player, and I immediately have to explain why he is on the team.
