Jurgen Klopp explains what’s next for Liverpool after Arsenal win

Jurgen Klopp believes there is much more to come from Liverpool after they weathered a “difficult” start to the season by setting a Premier League title scoreboard.

The Reds extended their start to the season 100% by coming from behind to beat Arsenal 3-1 at Anfield on Monday night.

Goals from Sadio Mane and Andy Robertson before the break ended with Alexandre Lacazette’s first goal, with new signing Diogo Jota coming off the bench to score his first goal for the club with 10 minutes to go.

And while expressing his joy at the display that moves his team to the level of Leicester City and Everton at the top of the Premier League opening table, Klopp believes Liverpool can show more consistency.

“I liked the game tonight,” he said. “When I saw the schedule before the start of the season I thought it was complicated.

“It was always clear for centuries that Chelsea would be really strong. Arsenal won the FA Cup, the last English competition, and they have been flying ever since and beat us in the Community Shield.

“Leeds, of the 19 teams that weren’t in the top 10, I would have wanted to play the first game. It was difficult but we did it.

“We don’t make statements, to be honest. At a press conference from time to time I have to do it while you ask me questions.

“Apart from that, we only play football and we want to win the games.

“We have to be consistent. So far we have played quite well, but that’s it. “

A rare Robertson mistake had given Arsenal their first game, while the Gunners had a chance to equalize in the second half when Lacazette was clean but turned down by Alisson Becker.

And Klopp added: “It was a really good game, I loved every second. I didn’t like the goal we conceded, but I really liked the reaction immediately afterwards.

“Against a top team in shape, playing like we did tonight, it was really something to be honest.

“We were dominant, we played good football, we were difficult to defend, the counter-press was excellent, the attitude was excellent, we played really good things.

“Arsenal didn’t have many but they had some chances because they have a real quality.

“Most of the moments they had were offside, very good defense. But Ali made a save anyway. It was a very good performance. “
