Chris Wilder has accused Jurgen Klopp of being “selfish” in wanting to bring back five substitutes in the Premier League.
The Sheffield United manager rejected Klopp’s argument that he is concerned about the well-being of the players, insisting that his main concern is helping Liverpool.
Sheffield United has consistently voted against five substitutes and Wilder says having a bigger bank makes it even more difficult for them.
“Cards on the table, he is going to take care of his own club,” said the Blades boss.
“I have incredible respect for these top managers because they produce the best results and win things.
“But they are selfish, they take care of their own clubs. They will not bother about Sheffield United, England will not bother them.
“They are going to be upset with Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea, which I understand and respect. I would be the same, but I am concerned about Sheffield United and having five substitutes does not help us.
“I don’t think the common man is overly sympathetic to the mental aspect of players who make £ 250,000 a week and don’t make an 18-man team. That’s silly as far as I’m concerned.
“My sympathy for them is not huge. If Man City plays on a Wednesday night in Outer Mongolia and then has to play at 12:30 on a Saturday, he has to play at 12:30 on Saturday!

It has been an extremely interesting start to the season for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
Their title defense got off to a shaky start when they overcame a seven-goal thriller against Leeds, before going to seven conceded in a beating of Aston Villa.
Virgil van Dijk’s season ended with injury in a 2-2 draw at Everton, leaving the title favorites much less secure in the back, especially with Alisson’s concern about injury.
But there is no slowdown in what will be a busy campaign, with Klopp making sure his men keep up with him as they battle for more titles.

“If that helps us, we will gladly accept it because this is the competitive aspect of football.
“Come on! Are any of the Man City fans discouraged that Virgil van Dijk is injured? Are they any Chelsea or Man United fans? Are they disappointed that Virgil van Dijk is out for a long time?
“They are not because they only take care of their own club and I only take care of my own club.”
Rather than five substitutes, Wilder is concerned about ending United’s 11-game winless streak in the Premier League.
The boys from the basement of the League face West Ham tomorrow at Bramall Lane and Wilder knows they need to start scoring points.
“It was a tough streak, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea at the top, it would be a tough streak of matches for anyone in our division,” he said.
“But we’ve gotten over that and we understand that we have to score some points in these next 10 games before the new year.
“In a wicked way, I enjoy moments like this. Fighting is in my nature, fighting is in our nature as a football club ”.
