The week ended in tears when a Member of Parliament Ekow Quansah Hayford and his driver were killed in an alleged robbery attack on a highway. This prompted renewed calls from parliament leaders to increase the security of parliamentarians.

The Ghana Police Service announced a reward of 20,000 cedi for any information that may lead to the arrest of those who killed the two.

Other parts of the country also recorded some robberies and incidents of violence. In the Ashanti region, a campaign team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was attacked by gunmen in Ejuratia.

The Northern Region registered two attacks. In one of them, a senior official of the National Identification Authority was shot dead. Security analyst Colonel Festus Aboagye wants law enforcement agencies to improve their game in fighting crime.

The vice president of the constituency of the Mfantsiman nuclear power plant in the central region, David Awotwe, was arrested for his involvement in the sale of outboard motors.

In the Volta region, police said they had recovered rifles stolen from the police arsenal last month by members of secessionist groups.

In politics, nine presidential hopefuls, including three women, have submitted their nomination forms to the Electoral Commission for the December elections.

President Akufo-Addo says he is committed to peace as the country prepares for the December elections.

NDC flag bearer John Mahama also announced that he is a better steward of the economy than President Akufo-Addo.

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo has been receiving the backing of some bosses.

Past and current Ministers of Gender, Children and Social Protection have been speaking about the Affirmation Action Bill for more than two decades.

Finally, PRESEC-Legon won its sixth trophy from the recently completed National Science Mathematics Examination (NSMQ).
