José Mourinho revealed after the 1-0 victory against Burnley last night that Steven Bergwijn and Serge Aurier were left out of the call for the day due to minor injuries (Soccer London).
The Dutch winger was on the bench for Thursday’s Europa League clash against LASK, but was an unused substitute, hinting that he would participate on Monday.
Bergwijn also started the final Premier League outing against West Ham in what was initially a very positive and dominating display of attack from the Lilywhites.
However, Erik Lamela and Gareth Bale were the only wingers on the Turf Moor bench, raising some questions as to where the Dutchman was.
Serge Aurier started in the last Premier League game against West Ham, but was nowhere to be seen last night.
In his post-match press conference, Mourinho was interested in pointing out that the injuries were minor and that his squad is now so strong that he doesn’t have to take risks with injured players.
The Spurs finally won the game 1-0 thanks to a late header from Heung-min Son after an assist from Harry Kane.
