The general secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (PNP) of Ghana, John Boadu, was elected on Friday, September 25, 2020, as vice president of the Democratic Union of Africa (DUA), which is the African Alliance of all. right-wing political parties and related organizations and think tanks on the African continent.
John Boadu was elected to the number two position of the International Democratic Union African alliance at the 2020 Union conference. Prior to his election, the NPP Chief Clerk had been serving as DUA Vice President responsible for West Africa. The 2020 conference also saw the election of MacHenry Venaam, the former presidential candidate of Namibia’s People’s Democratic Movement (PDM), as president of DUA.
The President of the Republic of Ghana, HE Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, was honored at the conference for his exemplary leadership, particularly in this period of global health crisis, when he rose to the occasion and showed the way for the rest of the world. Consequently, he was confirmed as an Honorary Patron of the Democratic Union of Africa.
Speaking to some journalists after his election, the general secretary of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition, John Boadu, thanked the leaders of the different political parties who attended the conference for the trust placed in him. He promised to work assiduously with the other elected executives to further promote the ideals of the Union by upholding the principles of democracy and other center-right philosophies on the African continent and beyond.
