A few days ago, on February 17 to be precise, social media and mainstream media were inundated with the news of the passing of Richard Dombo, who was the executive director of the Ghana Rail Development Authority (GRDA).

Richard Dombo until his death as a result of the complications of Covid-19 was the son of Chief Simon Diedong Dombo, who was one of the founding fathers of the Northern People’s Party, which later merged with the tradition of the United Party (UP ) that gave rise to the New Patriotic Party.

In this context, the former minister in charge of railway development and member of parliament for Essikadu-Ketan in the western region has praised him.

Joe Ghartey, in his little tribute, as seen on social media, stated that it is “Unbelievable. Dombo’s passing is certainly a loss for his family, but it is also a great loss for the rail industry.”

The Minister’s statement further added: “The role that the Ghana Railway Development Authority, led by Richard Dombo, played in the development of a new modern standard gauge rail network over the past four years cannot be overstated.”

Below is the full statement from the former Minister of Railway Development:

Joe Ghartey writes:

Dombo has passed !! Amazing. Dombo’s passing is certainly a loss for his family, but it is also a great loss for the rail sector. The role that the Ghana Rail Development Authority, led by Richard Dombo, played in the development of a new modern standard gauge rail network over the past four years cannot be overemphasized. What can we say but quote Shakespeare, who reminds us that the world is nothing more than a stage, each man has his entrance and exit. As difficult as it may be, the Good Book tells us that we came from dust and to dust we will return. The Lord gives and the Lord takes away. Blessed be his holy name. Richard, until we meet again on resurrection day, rest in perfect peace.
