The president-elect of the United States of America, Joseph Biden, says he is hopeful for a more participatory dialogue in the future with President Akufo-Addo.
According to him, there are common problems that both countries and their people face that make it relevant to strengthen the relationship that exists.
He revealed this in a letter in response to President Akufo-Addo’s congratulatory message on winning the US elections.
“We look forward to working with you and your government to address common problems facing our countries and our people. I look forward to future dialogue,” the letter read.
Joe Biden apologized for his delay in responding and his inability to speak personally with Akufo-Addo on the phone and explained that he took office at a time when the Covid-19 pandemic cost him and his task a lot.
“Vice President-elect Harris and I will take office at a time of great global challenges, from the coronavirus to climate change, that transcend borders and require international corporations,” he added.
Biden is expected to take office on January 20, two weeks after President Akufo-Addo’s swearing-in ceremony on January 7.
