Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku has revealed that Greuther Furth winger Jamie Leweling, who has been called up to the Black Stars, was recommended by FA technical director Bernhard Lippert.

The 19-year-old is hoping to make his Ghana debut after coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor included him in the 23-man squad for the 2021 African Cup of Nations double-headed qualifier against Sudan in November.

According to Kurt, Jamie Leweling was recommended by Bernhard Lippert, who is the Technical Director of the Ghana Football Association. He added that Black Stars coach CK Akonnor traveled to Germany to see the teenager before he was called.

“Jamie Leweling was recommended by the Ghana Technical Director [Bernhard Lippert]. As a result, CK Akonnor traveled to Germany and saw Jamie [Leweling] twice and some of his videos. And considering all the information we had, we thought it was imperative to bring it to the team, “Kurt Okraku told Kumasi-based Hello FM.

“Some of the information was classified but Jamie has to come to the team so we gave the coach the green light to bring him.

“He is a 19-year-old player, an offensive player and I think that due to his qualities he has a good future,” he concluded.

This comes after coach CK Akonnor described the inclusion of Jemie Leweling as a great talent for the future of Black Stars.
